The Institute of Medical Education (IME), formerly known as the METC Institute, has been assisting surgeons with their SET interviews since 2013. Over the years, IME has successfully aided over 820 candidates in preparing for their interviews.
The IME Department of Surgery is led by experienced consultant General Surgeons from across Australia. It offers educational opportunities catering to all stages of surgical career development. Pre-surgical hospital doctors and unaccredited registrars can enrol in IME's programs to receive training and guidance to aid their progression onto the Surgical Education and Training (SET) program. IME's SET General Surgery and Surgical Specialty Programs deliver highly specialised interview preparation curated by practicing consultant surgeons with unique experience and insights into the SET selection interview, including assessment and scoring criteria.

Continuous Professional Development

The Institute of Medical Education offers general practitioners, GP registrars, prevocational doctors, International Medical Graduates, and specialised allied health staff continuing education in the domains of skin cancer medicine and surgery, dermatology, and dermoscopy.

Continuous Professional Development (CPD) is offered by IME through CPD-approved courses facilitating ongoing growth in the relevant skill base of these domains. Each course is accredited for RACGP 40 Category 1 QI & CPD points and ACRRM 30 PRPD + 30 Surgery MOPS points.

FRACGP Exam Preparation

IME provides unmatched preparation for all RACGP Fellowship Examinations. The programs below aim to maximise performance in the Advanced Knowledge Test (AKT), Key Feature Problem (KFP), and Clinical Competency Exam (CCE) Fellowship assessments. Students can expect unlimited support and direction from Australia's premier primary healthcare providers via the GP specialist academic faculty.
