About the Program
The RACGP KFP Advanced Strategies course (GP203) develops advanced critical and analytical skills and methods needed for exceptional performance in the RACGP Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam. This is accomplished through the study of 10 complete and representative KFP trial exams, each with worked solutions, clinical reasoning, exam strategies and references for further study.
In order to develop the appropriate exam techniques and level of reasoning, registrars have unlimited access to expert tutors who are specialist medical practitioners that can provide guidance and clarification individualised to personal requirements. This course allows candidates to develop and refine medical knowledge through case-based learning, to develop exam strategy, to realise and attenuate weaknesses and to develop a higher level of understanding of the concepts required to maximise RACGP KFP scores.
This course may be completed in isolation, or in conjunction with other RACGP Fellowship preparation courses in order to prepare for the Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam or Applied Knowledge Test (AKT).
Subject Structure
The RACGP KFP course includes 10 full-length KFP Trial Exams (total of 260 cases). The KFP is designed to assess clinical reasoning in practice. The exam is designed to represent a session in Australian general practice, so the demographics and case mix are drawn from the Bettering the Evaluation and Care of Health (BEACH) data.
Subject Content
The RACGP KFP Preparation Advanced Strategies Course includes 10 full-length KFP Trial Exams (total of 260 Cases).
Based on knowledge built from foundation courses such as GP201, candidates will utilise problem-based learning strategies in the domains of:
- Adult Health -Medicine
- Adult Health – Surgery
- Women’s Health
- Child Health
- Mental Health
- Population Health & Ethics
These clinical cases are reasoned within the context of the Australian primary health care system and candidates are directed by the academic faculty to further reading material that will consolidate knowledge in these areas. By completing this course, candidates will gain knowledge in the areas of pathogenesis, clinical features, investigative findings, primary and differential diagnoses and management of disease.
Exit Examination
The formal exit examination for this course consists of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Key Feature Problem (KFP) exam. This exam is conducted and operated independently through the RACGP. The cost of this exam is not included in the course fees for GP203.
