About the Program

The GAMSAT Premier Program is the most comprehensive GAMSAT preparation program available that guides future doctors through their GAMSAT preparation, medical school applications, and medical school interview preparation.

Completion of the program will allow the student to develop a critical knowledge base in science, deemed necessary as a pre-requisite to postgraduate studies in Medicine. The program also strives to develop higher-level complex reasoning and problem solving skills in broad topic areas ranging from humanities to physical and biological sciences. This preparation is facilitated by guided mentorship and access to thousands of extensively reviewed questions relevant to the GAMSAT, and validated by our Academic Faculty.

The primary aims of the GAMSAT Premier Program are to provide students with the knowledge and skills required to gain successful entry into Medicine. Firstly, this is achieved through the completion of various standard and exclusive courses while receiving personal teaching and mentoring from their GAMSAT tutor. In addition, students will build a solid foundation for graduate medical studies via comprehensive fundamental training in medical science.

    Program Structure

    The Program aims to maintain a standard of excellence in developing for students a critical knowledge base in science, deemed necessary as a pre-requisite to postgraduate studies in Medicine. Overall, students will receive:

    • A question bank of over 2200 expertly curated questions relevant to the GAMSAT

    • 50 critiqued GAMSAT Section II essays

    • 9 individual subjects covering sections I, II, III

    • 70+ hours of on demand video lectures

    • 12-hours personal tutorials with a member of the IME Academic Faculty

    • 5+ complete mock exams 

    • Comprehensive Medicine Admissions application review

    • Access to IN301 Medicine Admissions Interview Online Scenarios

    Program Content

    The GAMSAT Premier Program is comprised of a portfolio of the most intensive GAMSAT preparation subjects that IME has to offer. In addition, students are provided with supplementary courses, resources, and services available exclusively in the Program.

    GA005 is exclusive to the GAMSAT Premier Program and includes:

    • Fortnightly Q&A Webinars with Academic Faculty for duration of enrolment
    • Personal orientation with Academic Faculty and unlimited personal tutor support
    • Unlimited access to course help through an interactive online Discussion board
    • 12-hours Personal Tutorials
    • 4 mock GAMSAT exams
    • 25-hours on-demand recorded GAMSAT Science lectures

    The personal tutoring sessions are ideally conducted on a regular basis with all times for these personal tutoring sessions organised directly with the personal tutor at a mutually convenient time. All tutoring sessions are conducted in-person or via Zoom online interface, whilst the unlimited personal tutoring support is conducted via email and phone. Once a student reaches the Medical School Application part of their academic journey, their tutor will provide support with completing their applications.

    GA100 is a short course aimed at introducing students to the GAMSAT. This course will help students identify problems in their preparation for the exam, their strengths and weaknesses, and solutions to potential areas of improvement.

    • Essentials of GAMSAT (GA100) includes an online module along with a full-length trial examination

      GA101 focuses on how to approach complex GAMSAT questions and is designed to provide students with advanced critical analysis skills required for their identification and resolution. It is a pre-medical subject suitable for all students intending to pursue a career in Medicine.

      In addition, students are provided with proven strategies needed to maximise scores and performance in GAMSAT.

      • Strategies of GAMSAT (GA101) includes 5 online modules and 6 MCQ exams

      GA102 is designed for all-round performance in GAMSAT Sections I, II, and III (Humanities, Essay Writing, and Science, respectively).

      The course involves access to on-demand lectures and completion of numerous e-learning online modules. Students can also start their studies at any time and work through the course content at their own pace, providing total flexibility.

      The course includes:

      • Thirty unique and detailed Foundations of GAMSAT modules that teach the foundations for GAMSAT Sections I–III
      • Ten recorded lectures with problem-based learning and discussion by members of the Academic Faculty
      • Over 25 on-demand quizzes/exams developed by members of the Academic Faculty that explore core GAMSAT topics in Humanities and Science

      Building upon concepts developed in Foundations of GAMSAT course, GA103 consolidates current knowledge, reviews key additional GAMSAT topic areas, and provides complex reasoning strategies needed to maximise scores in the exam.

      This course is for students striving for exceptional GAMSAT performance and includes:

      • Forty three unique and detailed Advanced GAMSAT modules that teach the foundations for GAMSAT Sections I–III
      • Nine recorded lectures with problem-based learning and discussion by members of the Academic Faculty
      • Over 15 on-demand quizzes developed by members of the Academic Faculty that explore core GAMSAT topics in Humanities and Science

      GA104 is designed to provide students with advanced essay writing skills and the ability to write competently and proficiently within a limited time frame. It also includes detailed and pragmatic explanation of essay writing structure, and illustration of the application of this structure for the GAMSAT.

      Additionally, the course teaches higher level reasoning and interpretation of GAMSAT stimulus themes, allowing students to produce a piece of writing that demonstrates depth and breadth of thought, a key scoring criterion. 

      • Intensive Essay Writing (GA104) includes 50 marked GAMSAT essays and 5 online theory modules in GAMSAT essay writing

      GA108 is designed to enable students to practice their critical reasoning skills under exam conditions with this full-length, live and online GAMSAT practice exam. This exam challenges even the most prepared student and provides comprehensive coverage of all of the most important concepts required to perform in the real exam.

      Students who complete the practice exam will receive:

      • Online access to the comprehensive set of exam GAMSAT questions with additional detailed answers
      • Personalised essay feedback from professional essay markers

      The Live Medicine Interview Workshop is a highly specialised interview workshop that provides candidates with the materials and the practice required to perform in the high-pressure Medical and Dental admissions interview. Students who participate in the workshop receive:

      • Involvement in 4 interviews (5 MMI stations each – total of 20 interview stations)
      • Allocated time for personal feedback
      • Access to the IME Medicine Interview Preparation Module

      Prepared by medical specialists and senior lecturers from leading Australian University Medical Schools, the course allows students to learn, and remotely practice execution of skills fundamental to success in the admissions interview.

      Candidates are provided with 100 medical interview questions as well as their ideal responses. Additionally, candidates have access to the medicine interview theory modules to assist preparation. 

      The online module covers the following topics:

      Module 1: Introduction to the Medical/Dental School Interview scenarios: understanding the purpose, intent and success criteria for medicine admissions interviews.
      Module 2: Giving/Taking Instructions: displaying confidence, technical communication and appropriate social skills, dealing with frustration, maintaining a sense of proportion in the face of the task.
      Module 3: Emotional Communication: demonstrating mature social skills and a realistic perspective.
      Module 4: Problem Solving: demonstrating the ability to take a comprehensive approach to a problem while maintaining a sense of proportion.
      Module 5: Resilience and Maturity: demonstrating life experience and a realistic outlook in dealing with problems.
      Module 6: Enthusiasm for Medicine: exploring curiosity and enthusiasm about Medicine and lifelong learning.
      Module 7: Ethics: demonstrating a grounded perspective and an awareness of ethics as an issue.
      Module 8: Awareness of Common Issues in Medicine: using Rural Medicine as a focus to demonstrate some familiarity with health care systems.


      Q/A Webinars

      Q/A Webinars are held live and discuss strategies to answer GAMSAT questions. Topics for webinars include GAMSAT, admissions interview preparation, and medical school applications. All webinars are also recorded and made available for students to review on an ongoing basis for the duration of the program. Students of the GAMSAT Premier Program have unlimited access to webinars and respective recordings.

      Modules

      Students are required to complete the following modules through the IME Online Learning Management System student portal. This Online LMS also provides students with various tools and advanced e-learning strategies to facilitate their learning.

      Entry requirements

      The GAMSAT Foundations Program is a pre-medical subject designed for students who wish to pursue a future career in Medicine. All students should consult ACER Information booklets and the Graduate Entry Medical School Admissions System (GEMSAS) guide for specific information regarding eligibility requirements to University medical schools.

      Course fees include access to the online modules, personal tutorials, and Q/A Webinars for 2 years (24 months). Further fees apply for extensions and may only be granted on application. Please refer to our published refunds policy as a condition of enrolment.

      Exit examination

      The Institute of Medical Education offers students Guaranteed Entry into Medicine after the completion of the GAMSAT Premier Program. The program offers committed students their outright best opportunity to enter Medicine. Drawing from confidence in the program and past performance of students, IME offers a guarantee of entry into Medicine. Students who satisfactorily complete all aspects of the GAMSAT Premier Program with a passing grade but fail to gain a valid entry score into post-graduate Medicine, will be enrolled in the GAMSAT Foundations Program (total course fees $2,397) at no cost the following year.

      The GAMSAT Premier Program is designed by Specialist Doctors and Senior Lecturers from leading Australian University Medical Schools and Teaching Hospitals. Minimum qualification standards include MBBS with specialist qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All courses are delivered by experienced lecturers with proven success in the medical field.
