About the Program

The GAMSAT Essentials Program consists of a total of five course subjects to assist students in Sections I–III of the GAMSAT exam. The Essentials Program provides insights into how to prepare for GAMSAT, and how to maximise efforts by providing candidates with a method for studying the exam that focuses on the content that needs to be covered. 

GAMSAT Essentials students train to focus on concepts and apply knowledge, instead of rote memorising content. This program also provides candidates with access to over 500 extensively reviewed questions relevant to the GAMSAT, and is validated by our Academic Faculty. This allows a problem-based learning approach and also preparation for Section's I and III of the GAMSAT exam.

The GAMSAT Essentials Program also offers preparation for Section II, providing students with the opportunity to receive detailed feedback and recommendations for improvement for a selection of GAMSAT essay tasks. Additionally, it allows students to quickly formulate a structured and organised approach to GAMSAT essay writing.

    Program Structure

    The GAMSAT Essentials Program aims to maintain a standard of excellence in developing critical thinking skills deemed necessary as a pre-requisite to postgraduate studies in Medicine. Overall, students will receive:

    • A question bank of over 500 expertly curated questions relevant to the GAMSAT
    • 6 critiqued GAMSAT Section II essays
    • 5 individual subjects covering Sections I, II, III
    • 10+ hours of on demand video lectures
    • 1 complete mock exam

     

    Program Content

    The GAMSAT Essentials Program is comprised of a portfolio of GAMSAT preparation subjects. Subjects are delivered on IME's online classroom and can be accessed on-demand.

    GA003 is a subject that is exclusive to the GAMSAT Essentials Program. The subject includes:

    • Fortnightly Q&A Webinars with Academic Faculty 3 months prior to GAMSAT
    • Personal orientation with Academic Faculty
    • Unlimited access to course help through an interactive online Discussion board 
    • Recommended study plan

    GA100 is a short course aimed at introducing students to the GAMSAT. This course will help students identify problems in their preparation for the exam, their strengths and weaknesses, and solutions to potential areas of improvement.

    • Essentials of GAMSAT (GA100) includes an online module along with a full-length trial examination

    GA101 focuses on how to approach complex GAMSAT questions and is designed to provide students with advanced critical analysis skills required for their identification and resolution. It is a pre-medical subject suitable for all students intending to pursue a career in Medicine.

    In addition, students are provided with proven strategies needed to maximise scores and performance in GAMSAT. 

    • Strategies of GAMSAT (GA101) includes 5 online modules and 6 MCQ exams

    GA106 is designed for students who desire a focused and condensed preparation for GAMSAT Section II. The course provides students with the opportunity to receive detailed feedback and recommendations for improvement on a selection of GAMSAT essay tasks. It allows students to quickly formulate a structured and organised approach to GAMSAT essay writing.

    • Short Essay Writing (GA106) includes 6 marked GAMSAT essays

    GA108 is designed to enable students to practice their critical reasoning skills under exam conditions with this full-length, live and online GAMSAT practice exam. This exam challenges even the most prepared student and provides comprehensive coverage of all of the most important concepts required to perform in the real exam.

    Students who complete the practice exam will receive:

    • Online access to the comprehensive set of exam GAMSAT questions with additional detailed answers
    • Personalised essay feedback from professional essay markers

     

    Q/A Webinars

    Q/A Webinars are held live and discuss strategies to answer GAMSAT questions. Topics for webinars include GAMSAT, admissions interview preparation, and medical school applications. All webinars are also recorded and made available for students to review on an ongoing basis for the duration of the program. Students of the GAMSAT Essentials Program receive access to the webinars 3 months prior to each GAMSAT sitting. 

    Modules

    Students are required to complete the following modules through the IME Online Learning Management System student portal. This Online LMS also provides students with various tools and advanced e-learning strategies to facilitate their learning.

    Entry requirements

    The GAMSAT Essentials Program is a pre-medical subject designed for students who wish to pursue a future career in Medicine. All students should consult ACER Information booklets and the Graduate Entry Medical School Admissions System (GEMSAS) guide for specific information regarding eligibility requirements to University medical schools.

    How to enrol

    To enrol in this Program and make payment, click on the ‘Enrol’ button at the top of the page. Access is provided to students within 24-hours.

    Course fees include access to the online modules for 6 months and Q/A Webinars for three months prior to each GAMSAT sitting. Further fees apply for extensions and may only be granted on application. Please refer to our published refunds policy as a condition of enrolment.

    Exit examination

    Completion of the GAMSAT Essentials Program requires satisfactory completion of all online modules as well as a passing grade in summative assessment. Summative assessment for the GAMSAT Essentials Program consists of an exam (IME GAMSAT Trial Exam). The GAMSAT Trial Exam is a full length exam specifically designed by our Academic Faculty to be closely representative of GAMSAT.

    Faculty

    The GAMSAT Essentials Program is designed by Specialist Doctors and Senior Lecturers from leading Australian University Medical Schools and Teaching Hospitals. Minimum qualification standards include MBBS with specialist qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). All courses are delivered by experienced lecturers with proven success in the medical field.
